As we move into our 19th year of “Thinking Pink” and supporting the community, we still always reflect on the path that got us to where we are now. This is was driven by the community itself and our strength and determination comes from here. We live in a world now, in which many people we know have or are going through breast cancer diagnosis or treatment. We have moved from a taboo word within our local discourse, to numerous young entrepreneurs- men and women, supporting in October but also throughout the year. The term (Think Pink) was coined in Bahrain in 2004, and is not linked to any other international, regional, or local organistaion, but its own registered standalone Society within the Kingdom.

The trust that you have placed in our team of volunteers over the 19 years, only drives us further. Think Pink has become a household name within the Kingdom, a transparent and trusted organisation that has the end user at the centre of everything we do. Our support via out three pillars: Awareness, Education and Research has lead us to be peer reviewed at an international level and ensures that the information that we provide either within our National Breast Cancer Guidelines, our Free Mobile application (i check think pink) is resourced or Patient Decision Aids, are robust and current- with a local discourse, and in both Arabic and English

In 2023 our aim is to support a local research project, that will see us utilise the digital 1.5 T MRI that the Charity purchased, with your donations. This project uses both innovation, technology and is being driven with the support and endorsement of the CEO of Government Hospitals. This project, will, support the radiographers, will include training and potentially be the first n the region. For the end user- this means cutting down waiting time for results, but 30%. This project is on top of all the post care services that the Charity pays for- for patients and family members.

Please be mindful of where your funds are being directed. There is a lot of “pink washing” and unless you see the partnerships on our platforms- then they are not official events or programmes that the Charity endorse. Remember that when October ends, the ribbons will be packed away- both men and women continue to be diagnosed throughout the year. Be mindful and not just proactive during the month of October- say i check with us, utilise the free tools we have made available and that you have raised funds for over the years.
