Breast cancer is not race, religion or class orientated. It is only with research, education, early intervention and public awareness that we can fight this disease

The Charity was conceived on the bases of awareness. When our Founder arrived in The kingdom in 2002, there wasn’t awareness campaigns that were visible and it was hard to get local information on breast cancer. The campaign was launched base on “having that conversation” and the artwork was local centred and bilingual. The conversation of being in charge of your health, being proactive about your health and being breast aware- i check was born.

Strong campaigns without bias or fear- empowering women to be in charge of their health, knowing that Think Pink Bahrain is educating the community as a whole, and this disease is not just patient specific. Our holistic approach and transparency has lead us to where we are today. Examples of awareness have included the distribution of over 10,000 breast self -examination kits to breast cancer clinics across Bahrain to SMH- Oncology Unit, AMH- AMH Well Woman’s Clinic, KHUH and BDF breast clinic. The initiative commenced in 2008, and repurchases made in 2011, 2012 and 2013. The aim was to provide these kits to endorse breast self-examination of which has been endorsed by the Olivia Newton John Foundation. This early detection device is instrumental in offering a more efficient and effective monthly breast exam- “A breast check kit consists of two micro-thin layers of polyurethane with a non-toxic lubricant sealed in between. When the breast check is placed on the breast, the bottom layer gently adheres to the skin and remains stable allowing the upper layer to slide freely underneath your fingertips. As the upper layer slides freely over the bottom layer, friction is greatly reduced. This results in what is called, “sensory touch magnification”, or in other words your sense of touch is greatly improved thereby improving the effectiveness of all breast self-exams you do as part of your breast health program.” www.pinkplexus.com

Awareness within the Charity evolved as the growth of social media platforms and the n the Board, after extensive research, developed the first FREE mobile application in Arabic and English within the GCC (i check think pink- free on Android and iOs Play Stores)
